2 vols. books: Lord Tennyson and documents dated 1855-1892 Invitation to Alfred Tennyson from the Mayor of Lincoln for a dinner on September 24, 1855. With handwritten response from Tennyson. (Invitation stained and creased near margins; response is worn with a little discoloration and some rips and tears). Accompanied by Tennyson, Alfred. MAUD, AND OTHER POEMS. London: Moxon, 1855. 1st ed. Green cloth covers are tooled and decorated. Spine is banded with gilt title. Back inside cover contains newspaper clipping regarding "Maud". (Discoloration and wear to spine; piece missing in upper part. Cover corners and edges worn. Appears as if paper were glued to inside front cover, then ripped off. Interior in good condition.) Lord Tennyson, Alfred. THE DEATH OF OENONE, AKBAR'S DREAM, AND OTHER POEMS. New York: MacMillian, 1892. Unusual dark brown leather cover with tooled gilt decorative motifs on corners of covers. Spine with raised band, gilt, and tooled decoration. Leather continues 1/8 inch inside covers with tooled gilt decoration. Endpapers decorated in white-on-brown floral motif with gold specks. (Spine worn and discolored; edges and corners worn and bumped. Edges of free endpapers browning from leather. Little wear to edges of pages; interior clean, overall good condition).
