Description:

American Classical mahogany secretary bookcase circa 1830, beveled crown over case with pair of ten-light doors and three small drawers flanked by scrolling pilasters, chest with secretary drawer fitted with pigeonholes and bird's-eye maple drawers, pair of paneled doors edged with corresponding pilasters, on plinth with bun feet.

Provenance: Accompanied by bill of sale from Upholstery & Cabinet Furniture Warerooms, 107 & 109 Walnut St., Philadelphia, October 5th, 1939. Asheville, North Carolina private collection.

    Condition:
  • One glass panel cracked; two small veneer nicks to left side, one at lower back edge of bottom and one at top; another at center drawer of top; two to right drawer of top; another nick at right back corner top of bottom section; nicks along bottom edge of door; other minor scuffs consistent with age and use; feet appear to be original.
