Description:

American Classical mahogany tester bed, lower Mississippi River Valley circa 1825
tester with molded cornice and flat frieze, with canopy frame, supported by massive faceted posts retaining paneled headboard and faceted blanket roll, on urn-shaped feet.

will accept mattress size: 58 1/2" by 75"

Provenance: Estate of Ann Goolsby Hammond, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Other Notes: Family recollection of the history of this bed places it in the Thornhill Plantation, Greene County, Alabama in the mid 19th century.

    Condition:
  • Canopy frame without fabric, piece of one bedpost is missing at bottom where it is hollowed out to accommodate caster, bed is in excellent overall condition with minor imperfections consistent with age. Interior dimensions, between the rails is 76" x 58-1/2"
