American coin silver presentation basket by George Sharp Philadelphia, circa 1866, medallion and beadwork handle leading conforming rim on pedestal bowl with floral band and cartouche engraved: Hon. William Millward from his friends, July 1866, "Fiat Justitia"; underside with quadruple lion punch and S.
H8" L7" W6", and 14.0oz Troy

Other Notes: William Millward (June 30, 1822 - November 28, 1871) was an Opposition Party and Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Millward was elected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress. He was unsuccessful as the Unionist candidate for reelection in 1856. Millward was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth Congress and served as chairman of the United States House Committee on Patents. He served as United States marshal for the eastern district of Pennsylvania from 1861 to 1865, and was appointed Director of the United States Mint in September 1866 but, as his appointment was not confirmed by the United States Senate, served for six months only.
