two-piece black and white floral woven spread with 'Liberty' across lower section, signed in corner block: LUCY E. WALKER, ASBURY, 1848 C. VAN NORTWICK FANCY WEAVER.

*Note: Christian Van Nortwick, from Warren County, owned and operated his own weaving business known as the Ark Factory, on the Musconetcong River in Asbury. Three different styles of his coverlets have been found. Using two, three or four colors of yarn, he wove stunning and unique variations. A man with strong business acumen, his factory continued until 1850.
