Description:

American pine tall case clock, by John Samuel Krause circa 1810 bonnet centered with brass eagle finial above broken swan's-neck pediment with finial corners, over arched door flanked by colonettes; having a 30-hour movement and face painted with Roman numerals, pair of birds, corner embellishments and maker's name; on lower case with engaged quarter-columns flanking door over deeply coved waist, raised on shaped feet. (Has been exposed to heat, needs refinishing) H88 1/2" W23" D11" Provenance: Label within clock case states 'John Samuel Krause (1782-1815). Bethlehem, PA. Apprentice to John George Weiss; went to Lancaster, Pa. in 1803; there married Maria Louisa Schropp; later moved to Bethlehem.'
