American stoneware storage jars, North Carolina and New York Southern Piedmont area cylindrical storage jar with salt glaze, H10 3/8" W5 5/8"; together with Northern salt glaze ovoid storage jar, circa 1790, cobalt and incised line decoration flanked by lug handles, H8 3/4" W7 1/2". (2pcs)

Provenance: From the collection of a descendant of William Little Steele of Chatham County, North Carolina.

    Condition:
  • North Carolina jar is in good overall condition wear consistent with age.

    New York jar having two tight hairlines from top rim, one stretching 3 1/2" down body and the other stretching 2" down body with small chips occuring at rim and crazing surrounding body, otherwise good overall condition wear consistent with age.
