Arthur Ilsley 12-bore boxlock ejector SxS sporting gun circa 1890
top-lever action and furniture engraved with bold foliate scrollwork. Double triggers. Marked: 'Arthur Ilsley, Birmingham' on game rib and 'Made in England' on bottom of each barrel. Straighthand stock of figured English walnut. Weight: 6 lbs 9 1/2 oz. Stock: 14 3/4". 28" barrels bored approx. Improved Cylinder & 3/4 choke. Chambers: 2 1/2", nitro proof 1 1/8 oz. SN 7189.

Other Notes: ARTHUR ILSLEY, b.1885, first worked in the Birmingham trade in 1899 for Armstrong Stevens & Son at 15 Whittall Street. Subsequently he worked for the Ward family of gunmakers before setting up for himself c.1910 at 131 Steelhouse Lane prior to WW1. He ceased business c.1932 and died in 1976.

    Condition:
  • Good to very Good. 80-90% blue on barrels, trigger guard and floorplate, the action with even patina. Stock slightly loose at the head. Slight handling marks.
