British Revolutionary War foot officer's sword circa 1780
brass hilt, lion's-head pommel, grip of leather-covered wood with twisted copper wife, divided guard, steel blade with two narrow fullers; marked "HARVEY" on spine of blade at hilt.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #55.45.02 inked on inside of knuckle bow)

Purchased by Norm Flayderman, Wallingford Hall, Kennebunk, Maine.

  • Slight loss to leather on reverse side of grip, hilt is loose, traces of solder around blade at hilt and end of handle, blade with fine pitting overall.
