Catawba Valley stoneware storage jar Catawba Valley, North Carolina, circa 1890
rich alkaline glaze with well-tooled and shaped lip above high scalloped handles continuing down to slightly tapering form bearing inscribed 8 at upper body.
H18 3/4" W12 1/2"

Provenance: South Carolina private collection.

    Condition:
  • Rim with homemade repairs on 3 1/2" and the other 3" in length ,Stable hairline 4" at upper body having inherent firing and glaze flows consistent with age.
