Charles & Ray Eames LCW chair circa 1945-6 pre-Herman Miller production, laminated wood, rubber shock-mounts , zinc screws; underside marked LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) and bearing label. (Good condition) BH26 3/4" *Provenance: This chair loaned and exhibited at the Columbia Museum of Art, by Roger & Kristin Hutchison. *Note: A design remarkable for its innovative and cost-efficient use of materials, the Lounge Chair Wood responded fluently to the prevailing currency of biomorphism within fine arts and design. The first experimental series of LCW lounge chairs were produced in the autumn and winter of 1945, and were exhibited at the Barclay Hotel, December 1945, the Architectural League, February 1946, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, March 1946. *Reference: Charles Miers.
