Charleston coin silver salver, Hayden & Whilden Charleston, South Carolina, working 1855-63, lamb's-tongue border on round tray engraved with scroll and leaf and initial B (Fountain Fox Beatie, 1807-63) and raised on shaped feet; marked: TE&Co, 18xx, and Hayden & Whilden.
H1/2" Dia.7", and 6.0 troy oz

Provenance: South Carolina private collection.

Other Notes: The monogram is supposedly that of Fountain Fox Beattie (1807-1863) who was a prominent attorney and textile merchant from Greenville, South Carolina. The Fountain Fox Beattie house in Greenville was built in 1836 at 300 East North Street and was later relocated to 8 Bennett Street. The home now houses the Greenville Woman's Club.
