Chinese Boxer Rebellion award and presentation circa 1900-1901 Captain Richardson was born in South Carolina October 28, 1874. He was appointed to the Naval Academy in 1893, while living at Five Forks Anderson County, South Carolina., During his career, Captain Richardson was Captain of the U. S. S. Albany, which was sent upstream in China to bring back the Chinese government officials to sign the declaration of hostilities cessation by the Boxer Rebellion. The award is in Chinese with the Great seal of China and the signature of Tso- lin Chany (1873-1928)., Chinese warlord in charge of Chinese government behind the throne. The presentation, addressed to Captain Richardson, thanks him for his assistance in the cessation of conflict in the Boxer Rebellion.
