Chinese Export carved ivory chess set late 19th/early 20th century
with thirty-two stained-red and natural chess pieces in the form of Chinese figures housed within fitted laquered box opening to form chessboard.
figures: H1 1/4" to H3" opened box: H1 3/4" L15 1/8" W15 1/8"

Provenance: From a Florida estate.
Charleston, South Carolina collection.

  • Box with losses to laquer at edges, board with some puckering/bubbling and staining to interior fabric. Some chess pieces with minor chips/losses.
