Description:

Chinese Export cider jug circa 1780
barrel form with underglaze-blue Fitzhugh border over bamboo and floral garland, body decorated with scattered floral sprays, butterflies, and bugs in the famille rose palette, intertwined strap handles.

Provenance: The J. Louis Binder Collection of Chinese Export Porcelain (a portion of which sold in an eponymous auction at Christie's of London in 2003).

    Condition:
  • Small nicks and chips along top edge, wear to bamboo decoration and gilding. Small hairline in handle.

    ** All Chinese Export porcelain pieces have been examined under bright light and UV light. All show slight wear consistent with age. Only repairs and restorations, or wear greater than expected will be mentioned in condition reports.
