Description:

Chinese Export lacquer boxes late 19th century
shaped oblong hinged covered boxes decorated with court scene; one fitted for fan, containing 10 1/2" pierce-carved ivory brise fan with 26 sticks.
boxes H2 1/2" L13 3/4" D3 1/4" and H13 5/8" L13 5/8" D3 1/8" (2pcs + fan)

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #E69.26.362 and E69.26.364)

    Condition:
  • Fan: One stick broken in half. Ribbon torn.

    Fitted case with losses to lacquer and small nick and chips throughout. Losses to interior.
    Other case is locked and we cannot open. The exterior with chips and small nicks.
