Chippendale style mahogany partner's desk rectangular shaped and molded top with gilt-tooled green leather inserts; each side resembles the other, with center drawer flanked by pedestals fitted with a door and drawers, decorated with leaf swags and ovals, corners flanked with pilasters carved with lions'-heads, on hairy paw feet. (Good condition) H33 1/4" W73 1/2" D37 3/4" Note: The original made for Nostell Priory, described and illustrated in Percy McQuoid's HISTORY OF ENGLISH FURNITURE; also depicted in Anthony Coleridge's book CHIPPENDALE FURNITURE, CIRCA 1745-1765.
