Description:

Chippendale style mahogany partner's desk a rectangular molded top with gilt tooled brown leather inserts; each side resembles the other, each with a center drawer and end panels opening to interiors with partitions and trays; decorated with leaf swags and ovals; each corner flanked with pilasters carved with lion's heads, resting on hairy paw feet. (Good condition) H32" W80" D49" *Note: The original made for Nostell Priory, described and illustrated in Percy McQuoid's HISTORY OF ENGLISH FURNITURE; also depicted in Anthony Coleridge's book CHIPPENDALE FURNITURE, CIRCA 1745-1765.
