Painting has been relined. UV reveals minimal inpainting and retouching, however, to the naked eye it is visible that the background of the entire top right quadrant has been overpainted. A portion of the background behind the Virgin Mary has been overpainted as well as the foreground in front of the infant. There is an abbraision on the infant''s left leg and a dimple in the canvas above the right-most camel''s head. It appears that the painting has been restored several times. Thick old varnish has discolored the surface yellow. Frame is modern and is in good condition.
