Derby porcelain soup tureen on stand circa 1797-1800 overall navette shape with gilt decoration and frieze bands of blue, yellow and red flowers with central landscape scenes painted by George Robertson, oval cover with gilt knop finial and central landscape; inscribed on underside: LAKE OF PIDE LUGO IN ITALY, on squat form with flanking gilt c-scroll handles and two scenes; inscribed on underside: TEMPLE OF CLITUMMUS IN ITALY and CIVITA CASTELLANA ITALY, oval stand with central scene; inscribed on underside: VIEW ALONG THE SHORE OF POSILIPO ITALY, all three pieces marked in blue with maker's mark and pattern 178. (Crazing to interior of tureen, handle and side repaired) H11 1/2" L16 3/4" W10" *Provenance: Property from the estate of a Southern lady. *Note: George Robertson was employed by the Derby Works as an artist from 1797-1820. He specialized in meticulously detailed landscape and seascape paintings.
