Dutch needlepoint sampler dated 1871
finely worked stitches on linen consisting of ten lines of alphabet over floral motifs, figures with dogs, Adam and Eve, rampant stag, castles, and others, housed in newer frame.

Provenance: Estate of Mary F. Griffith, Columbia, South Carolina.
Purchased in upstate New York in 1941.

Other Notes: Possibly detailing the story of the Keyser family by Hendrina Dirk Keyser aged 12 years in the year 1870. Names listed on sampler include: Hendrick Dirk Keyser and Maria Moddemeyer. Dated at bottom: anno 1871.
