Other Notes: Known as the "Beaver map" because of its depiction of beavers at work building dams with Niagara Falls in the background. This map at the time was the most detailed and largest scale map of British possessions in North America. First issued in 1715, the map went through 7 different issues to 1736. It is considered to be one of the first and most important cartographic documents relating to the ongoing dispute between France and Great Britain over boundaries separating their respective American colonies.
