Description:

Eli Terry mahogany pillar and scroll shelf clock Plymouth, Connecticut, circa 1825
scroll top case with full-length door, painted dial with Roman numerals, original reverse painted lower tablet, with scallop skirt and French feet, printed maker's label inside backboard: Eli Terry, Inventor and Patentee.

Provenance: Property from the estate of Dr. Francis Lee Thurmond, a founder of the Keswick Hunt Club in Virginia.

    Condition:
  • Both glasses are original but are cracked, movement appears to be original, scrolls and feet are original but repaired and still with losses. Veneer losses and patches, center finial is replacement. Clock is not presently in working condition; however, movement appears to be complete, one weight is missing, dial is original with some minor paint loss.
