Description:
Enfield rifled musket 'Tower' model 1853, NVSN .58-caliber, no regimental markings present.
Provenance : Found in a barn in Lexington County, South Carolina; probably used by Confederates. This type of Enfield rifled musket was purchased by the Confederacy in England by Mr. Bullock and run through the union blockade into the ports of Charleston, Savannah and Wilmington.

Extensive termite damage to original stock which has been shortened to carbine length. Nipple flat. Otherwise in good operating condition with original ramrod.
