Description:

European painted and parcel-gilt mother-of-pearl fans circa 1860-80
pierce-carved and brass inlaid guards concealing 16 conforming sticks mounted with parcel-gilt hand-painted scenic print leaf depicting courting scene; other with similar design with fancy guards and 12 sticks mounted with hand-painted print depicting garden scene with figures; contained within matching French style giltwood frames.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #69.26.175 and 69.26.179)

  • Good overall condition, some wear to leaf and gilding. Not examined out of frame.
