Description:

Extraordinary KPM porcelain jewelry chest or coffer dated 1886
form of bombe chest with hinged cover painted with vignette of courting young couple; on lower part with floral sprig bound with cartouches and flanked by cherub caryatid cabriole legs and stiles; scepter mark as well as red orb over KPM; and ornate gilt hinge engraved: Konigl Pozellan-Manufactur Berlin 1886.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #69.26.172)

    Condition:
  • Case decoration in good condition with very minor wear to gilding; left rear foot repaired; case interior with beige silk-lined fabric worn, deteriorating and stained.
