Description:

Fine China Trade gilt and black lacquer brise fan 19th century
red, black and gold lacquered guards concealing 19 finely painted sticks depicting extensive monkey hunt scenes on both sides.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #E69.26.144)

    Condition:
  • Central scene in good condition with wear and rubbing; corrosion and tarnish to silver-overlay. Two sticks with small nicks to tip. Ribbon torn.
