Description:

Fine French painted and ivory fan 18th/19th century
painted pierce-carved guards concealing 15 conforming sticks mounted with painted leaf depicting romantic garden scene flanked by sequin applique and fringed top; reverse with painted floral sprays, contained within tabletop frame, L11 1/4" and frame H14 1/2" W23".

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #69.26.180)

    Condition:
  • Painted leaf in good condition with some wear creases along folds, and some losses to sequins. Left two sticks and scene appear to have been repaired. Could not examine out of frame, we could not figure out how to get it out of the casing.
