Fine pair Chinese trade ancestor portraits (18th/19th century)

oil on canvas, unframed, one marked on upper right

Provenance: North Carolina collection.

    Condition:
  • Both have been relined and are in nice, professionaly-restored condition. Woman with inpainting to face probably to repair flaking paint or craquelure. Man with three repaired tears: two parallel vertical tears extending from top edge of canvas to hat, and one horizontal tear across lower coat. Repaired tears with corresponding inpainting. Inpainting on both paintings affecting +/- 10% and are only visible under UV examination.
