Description:

Fine pair George II vermeil Neoclassical candlesticks, W. Tucker & Co Sheffield, dated 1774
fluted shaft with Greek-key girdle on tapered reed column with four engaged ram's-head monopodia and flaring square base with further ram's hoof, husk swags, and paterae; with loaded bases. Complete hallmarks and maker's mark on both.
H12", and 79.8oz all in

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession 69.26.115 and 69.26.366)

    Condition:
  • One socket with dent and bobeche is stuck; the other in very good condition. Bother with heavy wear to gilding. One socket with partial hallmark.
