Flemish school (18th century) FLORAL STILL LIFE

Provenance: Property from a Charleston collection.

    Condition:
  • Painting has been relined. Three repaired tears: 2 1/2" tear to middle left, 4" tear to the lower right along the tulip, and a 10" tear across center. Allover old and newer inpainting visible through background probably to repair flaking paint. Spots of inpainting to white and red flowers at top left, and to the two large red flowers in the background of the lower left section. Nice even craquelure throughout. Varnish very discolored and aged. Typical restorations and inpainting visible to naked eye and under UV. Frame and stretcher are 19th century. Painting may be 16th century.
