Provenance: The son of Karl Johan XIV (born Jean Baptiste Bernadotte) and Desiree, he married Princess Josephine of Leuchtenberg and they had five children. The owner's great-great grandfather was Gustav Robert von Rosen who was in King Oscar's court and a friend of the Royal family. His son was Carl Gustaf who married Ella Moore (daughter of Bloomfield Moore) of Philadelphia, PA. One of their sons, Clarence von Rosen, was the owner's grandfather. The painting descended in the family.

    Condition:
  • King: UV shows retouching to hair and also throughout lower portion of figure. Queen: UV clean, all over even craquelure, craquelure has been filled in in places, probably to repair flaking paint.
