Description:

French ebonized wood and brass-inlaid serpentine tantalus third quarter 19th century
double-hinged serpentine top inlaid with scrolling cartouches, opens to reveal brass-mounted tray with bottles and cordials having gilt decoration, resting on suppressed bun feet.

Provenance: Cornelius, North Carolina private collection.

    Condition:
  • Sections of brass inlay are loose, veneer chips to case. Lacking three decanters and one cordial.
