George III sterling basket of Southern interest London dated 1802
acanthus-bound reed hinged handle engraved FCSR, over scroll-and-foliate piercework rimmed basket on reticulated pedestal, engraved arms of Rose with motto: Audeo, Constant and True; raised on shaped feet; complete hallmarks and possible maker's mark of William Abdy.
H12" Dia.11 1/4", and 29.2oz

Provenance: Descended in the Rutledge-Rose Family of Charleston, South Carolina, probably celebrating the marriage of Susan Rose Rutledge (1821-1901) and Frank Capers.

    Condition:
  • Very good original condition, wear consistent with age, along with small/tiny blemishes to body. Arms are period.
