Other Notes: Maria Huger Rutledge (1794-1840) married Thomas Waties (1794-1830). She was the daughter of Hugh Rutledge (1745-1811) and Mary Golightly Huger (1771-1835). Her Uncles were Edward Rutledge (1749-1800), a signer of the Declaration of Independence and John Rutledge (1739-1800), the first Governor of South Carolina.
