Provenance : A Charleston, South Carolina estate.
Other Notes: One of two dollhouses patterned after actual buildings in Charleston; the other was the workshop of Thomas Elfe. This house was chosen because it had a gambrell roof; it is scaled at one inch per foot. The owner painted the rooms the same colors and furnished the dollhouse identically to the actual home; she had the fireplace and mantel reproduced and added miniature versions of the door casings and chair rail.
