Description:

German wag-on-wall cuckoo clock circa 1870
polychrome-decorated dial mounted in front of wood case housing brass and wood weight-driven movement, dial with small door which opens to allow carved wood bird to exit and count off the hours.
H14 1/4" W9 7/8" D8 1/2"

Provenance: Greenville, South Carolina collection.

    Condition:
  • Paper for bellows has deteriorated and needs replacing, dial has repaired vertical split, bright polychrome decoration shows minor losses, pendulum appears original, movement is complete, however the clock is currently not running in the gallery.
