Grimm, Paul American, CA (1892-1974) "CHINO CANYON AND SAN JACINTO" oil on board signed: lower right H20.25in W24in *Note: Paul Grimm was born in South America in 1884, and brought to the US in 1891. Grimm showed artistic talent at an early age while studying in Germany at 18 was awarded a scholarship for study in Dusseldorf's Royal Academy. When Grimm returned to the US, he moved to Hollywood and painted movie sets, before settling permanently in Palm Springs in 1932. Though he painted coastal and Sierra Mountain scenes, he is recognized as a painter of desert scenes, which he painted during his 42 years as a resident of Palm Springs.
