Hepplewhite style inlaid mahogany open armchair, Benjamin Covington Columbia, South Carolina, circa 1992
serpentine crest over upholstered back and seat, with outscrolled arms, on tapered legs with carrot inlay and ankle banding, unified by H-stretcher; signed and dated on frame by makers.

Provenance: Built in the shop of Benjamin Covington, master furniture maker of Columbia, South Carolina, by Ben Covington and his apprentice Betsy Hackett. Ben Covington passed away in March of 2002.
