Other Notes: During Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr.'s term as Ambassador to the Court of St. James (1938-1940), the Kennedy family vacationed in a home called the Chateau Domaine de Beaumont in the South of France. This refectory table was present within Beaumont during the Kennedys' vacations and was used by them. Chicago socialite Katherine Mortenson Carr and her husband George Russell Carr, CEO of the Dearborn Chemical Co., built this impressive mansion in the early 1930s. Beaumont was an expansive architectural feat designed by prominent French architect Jacques Couelle (1902-1996), nicknamed the Architect of Billionaires, and close friend of Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. Beaumont featured 38 rooms built with a Provencal theme, and overlooked the Mediterranean and Italian Alps.

    Condition:
  • top has old 10" shrinkage repair, several old repairs, scuffs, scratches and stains consistent with age and use, minor shrinkage cracks in pedestals, good sound condition consistent with age.
