John Fullwood, F.S.A. British (1854-1931) ST. PAULS CATHEDRAL colored etching, framed, signed in plate: lower left plate size: H16 1/4" W21 3/8" *Artist biography: John Fullwood was a successful landscape painter, etcher and illustrator. He was born in 1854 and studied in Paris and Birmingham. His paintings were displayed at the Royal Academy on twenty-one occasions and by the Royal Society of British Artists on ninety-nine occasions. From about 1874 to 1900 he was based in Birmingham and lived on Broad Street. He displayed no less than sixty-seven paintings at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists exhibitions. Around 1900 John moved to Sussex and worked there for about 10 years. He also had a house in Twickenham and considered the display of his paintings in major London galleries as the most important aspect of his career. John Fullwood died in Twickenham on September 9, 1931, at the age of 76. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and one of the oldest members of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
