    Condition:
  • Canvas has been relined. Repairs to canvas at the fabric directly below his right wrist and another across his robe twoards his right ankle. UV light examination reveals inpainting and overpainting: to robe above his left hand, on his left sock, to the area around and above his left shoe, two spots on the lower portion of his cravat, to his nose, and scattered spots throughout wig. Original canvas removed from stretcher, laid to canvas and mounted on larger stretcher so that the left and right edges where the original canvas had been tacked to the stretcher are now visible.
