Kentucky mahogany chest with secrtaire drawer Circa 1830 the top hasan arched back gallery, leading to two raised short drawers with ogeemoulded edge; over two deep wine drawers; centering a center drawer with hinged fall front; opening to fitted interiors of small drawers,valanced pigeonholes, and felt writing surface; above three long graduated drawers; resting on turned legs. Signed: Tucker, Paris on the back boards in what appears to be black paint with a brush. *Note The name Tucker appears in Mrs. Wade Hampton Whitley's Checklist of Kentucky Cabinet makers: as follows County: Bourbon, Year: 1811 Entry:Tucker, Alex., bought tools and scantling for bedsteads.
