Louis XVI mahogany marbletop two-tier table, stamped Canabas late 18th century, rectangular top with inset marble over fluted quarter-round columns leading to molded shelf over cabriole legs terminating in hoof sabots.

Provenance: Estate of the late Francis D. "Skeeter" McNairy, Savannah, Georgia.

Other Notes: Stamped "CANABAS" under top rail for Joseph Gegenbach dit Canabas (1712-1797). Born in Germany, he moved Paris in 1755 and specialized in functional pieces, such as this table, that could be used for service and easily moved.

  • Refinished, pegged construction, stains to medial shelf, overall very good condition with other minor imperfections consistent with age.
