Description:

Louis XVI style painted and tapestry open armchair late 18th century
rectangular back with reverse scroll crest, issuing shaped arms with padded rests and fluted supports, flanking topnailed seat, all upholstered in floral tapestry, on turned and tapered legs with acanthus capitals.

Provenance: Property of a South Carolina museum, property sold to benefit the acquisitions fund.

    Condition:
  • Some distress, fading and losses to fabric; minor shrinkage cracks, one small piece of molding missing from one arm, minor paint losses; overall, very good condition.
