Description:

Meissen centerpiece on stand circa 1850
floral-encrusted and reticulated Rococo basket supporting tree-like column flanked by romantic couple, on rocaille base and conforming stand with scroll feet and applied flowers, probably from model by Ernst August Leuteritz; crossed sword mark.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #69.26.369A and 69.26.369B)

    Condition:
  • Losses to applied flowers throughout; joint where basket is attached to shaft appears to have retouched paint; overall in good condition with no evidence of major restorations or repairs.
