Description:

Monumental French ormolu-mounted porcelain urn with clock 19th century
foliate and putti mounts on porcelain urn with finely painted vignettes of Venus, Adonis and Cupid with landscape and reverse with landscape, all on gilt-decorated cobalt ground, resting on conforming pedestal centering enamel dial clock flanked by bronze figures of cherubs and ornaments; works marked: Hersanti, Paris.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #NN)

    Condition:
  • Losses to gilded surfaces, minor losses to applied enamel surfaces on porcelain, losses to bronze mounts, top of clock altered and/or missing finial, other imperfections consistent with age, movement appears to be complete and functional, however the pendulum and bell are missing.
