Description:

Napoleon III ormolu and porcelain-mounted striking mantel clock, Japy Freres circa 1870
urn finial over architectural case inset with Sevres-style porcelain plaquettes and central panel depicting romantic figures in landscape above portrait plaque, centering enamel dial with Roman numerals and works marked Japy Freres.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #69.26.414)

    Condition:
  • Porcelain in top of urn is broken and repaired, very minor flaking around dial winding arbor holes, movement is missing pendulum suspension; movement is complete, however not operating in the gallery, key and pendulum with clock, case is in excellent condition with minor losses to gilding.
