New York Neoclassical mahogany chest of drawers, school of Michael Allison circa 1815, rectangular top above conforming case fitted with three short drawers over long deep drawer over three graduated drawers, reeded plinth on turned beehive-shape legs with brass cups and casters.

Provenance: Charlotte, North Carolina private collection.

Other Notes: Right drawer blade retains label from New York antiques dealer Florian Papp with handwritten note: "American made possible Duncan Phyfe year about 1790, put in good order Feb. 1939."

  • Older refinish, probably by Papp in 1939; minor scratches and blemishes to top surface along with minor shrinkage crack, hardware replaced, very good condition with other minor imperfections consistent with age.
