Other Notes: The 347 SERIES, completed between March 16, 1968 and October 5, 1968 when Picasso was 87 years old, exemplifies the artist's late period. The series is characterized by its overtly erotic subject matter through which Picasso reflects on his past experiences and attempts to make sense of his place in history. Throughout the series he references other important artists such as Rembrandt, Goya, Degas, and El Greco, who are also frequent actors in these circus-like scenes.
